Phil and Dan Brookes emerged through Breakbeat Kaos in the late 2000s and quickly established themselves as two of the most melodically assured producers in drum and bass. Their self titled debut album collected tracks like "Tear You Down" and "Beautiful", records that combined soulful vocals and warm musicality with drums that still worked on a dancefloor. Later work through Viper Recordings, including the album Orange Lane, refined the same approach. There is a brightness and a live band feel to their production that sets it apart from the more clinical end of the genre, drawing on funk and soul as much as on rave. As DJs the pair have been a fixture on the UK and international circuit for well over a decade. The Brookes Brothers sound is the one people reach for when they want to prove drum and bass can be genuinely uplifting.
