Charlie Tee
Genres: Drum & Bass
Charlie Tee is a DJ, broadcaster, and journalist who has become one of the most influential voices in modern drum and bass culture. Growing up in Hertfordshire, she discovered the genre during her student days, with Chase and Status debut album More Than Alot proving a pivotal influence. She first touched decks around the age of 19 while working at a pub in Harpenden, and in 2012 she began her professional journey at Drum and BassArena, interviewing artists and immersing herself deeper in the scene. Her ascent through the ranks was driven by a relentless passion for championing new talent. After building her reputation on the Kiss network and performing at festivals including Glastonbury, Boomtown, and Let It Roll, she made history by becoming the first permanent female host of the BBC Radio 1 Drum and Bass Show, taking over the coveted Saturday night slot and bringing the genre to its biggest ever broadcast audience. Through her radio platform, her Unitee events, and her label Total Music, Charlie Tee has been instrumental in breaking through artists like Bou, Nia Archives, and A Little Sound. Her inclusive, high-energy approach to both DJing and broadcasting has helped open doors for a new generation and cemented her position as one of drum and basses most important tastemakers.
