Degs
Genres: Liquid
Born Andrew Ndegwa Davies, Degs was raised on a rich diet of soul, R&B, hip-hop, and rock courtesy of his English and Kenyan parents. He discovered drum and bass at 15 after hearing Bad Company and London Elektricity, and six years later he picked up the mic for real, becoming a resident MC at Frequency Drum and Bass Sessions in Brighton in 2011. His early years as one of jump-ups best kept secrets saw him earning resident spots at events across Europe. A series of freestyle videos on social media caught the attention of Hospital Records co-founder Tony Colman, leading to Degs becoming only the second vocalist signed to the label. His debut album Letters From Ndegwa was a statement of intent -- a deeply personal collection tackling themes of love, loss, and resilience across a spectrum of drum and bass styles. Standout tracks like "Poveglia" and "Levitate Your Mind" with Unglued showcased his ability to move seamlessly between singing, rapping, and spoken word. Degs represents a new breed of drum and bass vocalist -- one equally comfortable delivering soulful hooks as he is spitting rapid-fire bars. His collaborations with producers like Logistics, LSB, Etherwood, and GLXY have demonstrated remarkable range, and his live performances crackle with an authenticity that comes from years of grafting on the grassroots circuit before the big stages came calling.
Degs has 0 upcoming drum & bass event(s) listed on DNBRAVE.
