Hazard is a Birmingham producer whose name is effectively synonymous with jump-up drum and bass. Coming up through the True Playaz and Playaz orbit, he built a catalogue of tracks that defined what the subgenre sounded like for well over a decade, with "Mr Happy" among the most recognisable records the style has produced. His label Souped Up Records became the home for the sound, releasing his own material alongside a roster that carried jump-up through the 2010s and into its current dominance. The Hazard formula, all wobbling, hyper compressed bass and drops engineered for pure reaction, has been imitated endlessly and rarely bettered. He remains one of the most consistently booked DJs in the genre, and his sets still function as a masterclass in how to run a jump-up dancefloor. Few artists have exerted so much influence over a single strand of drum and bass.
