Dynamite MC
Genres: Jungle
Born Dominic Smith in 1973, Dynamite MC grew up across the globe -- Germany, Ireland, Brazil, and the UK -- before settling into the Bristol music scene that would define his career. He cut his teeth MCing on pirate radio station Crush FM in Gloucester during the early 1990s, and a fateful meeting with Roni Size in 1994 saw him join the legendary Full Cycle crew. When the Bristol collective formed the live band Reprazent, Dynamite became a core member, sharing vocal duties on their debut album New Forms, which won the prestigious Mercury Music Prize in 1997. That Mercury win catapulted Dynamite into a new stratosphere, but he never rested on collective glory. His 2004 solo album The World of Dynamite showcased his range beyond drum and bass, blending hip-hop, breakbeat, and beyond. Over the years he has lent his unmistakable voice to tracks with an extraordinary roster of collaborators including Andy C, DJ Zinc, High Contrast, Netsky, and Caspa, proving himself equally commanding over liquid rollers and dancefloor tearouts. Dynamite MC is widely regarded as one of the most versatile and respected MCs in drum and bass history. His ability to ride any tempo and complement any style has kept him in constant demand across festival main stages and club raves for over three decades. Whether rocking a sold-out arena or delivering bars over a stripped-back set, his energy, timing, and natural charisma remain second to none.
Dynamite MC has 2 upcoming drum & bass event(s) listed on DNBRAVE.
