Ed Solo

Genres: Jungle, Drum & Bass, Breakbeat

Born Ed Bickley, Ed Solo has spent close to three decades moving between drum and bass, breaks and jungle. After settling in Brighton in 1997 he began working with DJ Brockie, and their track Reprasent became the first release on Brockie's Undiluted label, with Mars and Echo Box reaching the UK singles chart in 2002. From around 2005 he turned to nu skool breaks, co-producing the Freakshow album with Krafty Kuts, and he ran the dubstep imprint Sludge with Deekline. That partnership became his main outlet in 2009 when the pair launched Jungle Cakes, a label built on bouncy ragga jungle, reggae and dancehall samples and big singalong hooks. Cuts like King Of The Bongo and Bad Boys turned into festival favourites, and the two also curate the Welcome To The Jungle compilation and sample pack series. His sets lean hard on vocal edits and skanking riddims over rolling breaks, frequently alongside Deekline and the rest of the Jungle Cakes roster.

Ed Solo has 8 upcoming drum & bass event(s) listed on DNBRAVE.
