Born Kevin Forrester in Brockley, South London in 1980, Eksman launched his MCing career in 1996 and spent years writing, polishing his performance, and sharpening his lyrics before breaking through in spectacular fashion. His first major recognition came in 2003 when he was named Best Newcomer at both the Knowledge Magazine Awards and the Accelerated Culture Awards, announcing the arrival of a lyrical talent that would reshape drum and bass MCing. The accolades kept coming. In 2004, Eksman dethroned the legendary Skibadee to claim the "Best Lyrical MC" title in a vote of over eleven thousand fans worldwide, and in 2005 he lifted the "Best MC" award at the BBC Radio 1Xtra Online Awards. Notable collaborations with producers like DJ Zinc on "Drive By Car" and tracks such as "Bad Man" and "They Don't Know" became scene staples, showcasing an MC whose lyrical dexterity matched his crowd-rocking abilities. Eksmans influence on the drum and bass MC craft is profound -- he helped push the art form beyond simple crowd hyping into genuine lyricism. A proud family man, he has shared his passion for the culture with his son J Mulla, who has followed him into the scene. Still a commanding presence behind the microphone, Eksman continues to headline events worldwide, bringing decades of experience and an unmistakable flow to every performance.
Eksman has 4 upcoming drum & bass event(s) listed on DNBRAVE.
