Emily Makis
Genres: Liquid, Drum & Bass
Nottingham has been home to Emily Makis for most of her life, and her Greek Cypriot heritage runs through the way she sings. She started out in a neo soul collective while studying at Bath Spa University, where she discovered that melodic and liquid drum and bass suited her voice and where she met the producer Monrroe. Their 2019 track Never Too Old became her breakthrough. High Note with K Motionz followed, topping Beatport's drum and bass chart and placing third in the Drum&BassArena Awards vote for track of 2021. Phoneline, made with Pola & Bryson for Shogun Audio, passed 20 million streams, and she co-wrote Disconnect for Becky Hill and Chase & Status, a number six UK single. In 2023 she won Best Vocalist at the Drum & Bass Awards and was nominated in the same category by DJ Mag. Her debut solo single, Too Fast, produced by Dimension, came out on Shogun in January 2026. Her lyrics swing between introspective writing and straight rave material, and she has called songwriting her favourite part of the job.
Emily Makis has 3 upcoming drum & bass event(s) listed on DNBRAVE.
