Stanley Stevenson-Byrne started out producing as Stan SB before reinventing himself as Fox Stevenson, an artist who writes drum and bass the way other people write pop punk. He sings on almost all of his own records, and the result is a catalogue of enormously catchy, hook driven tracks that sound like nothing else in the genre. His output moves freely between drum and bass, drumstep and outright electronic pop, released across labels including Monstercat and Spinnin', and his sunny, hyperactive production has built him a huge online audience alongside the club bookings. The songwriting is deceptively sharp underneath the brightness. Fox Stevenson occupies a genuinely unusual position, respected by the drum and bass scene while operating largely outside its conventions. Few producers in the genre have a voice, in both senses, that is as immediately identifiable.
