Lenzman is a Dutch producer who has spent his career at the soulful, hip hop inflected end of drum and bass. His early work through Metalheadz, including the album Looking at the Stars, established a sound built on lush chords, head nodding drums and an unmistakable sense of melancholy. In 2017 he founded The North Quarter, a label that has become one of the most respected homes for deep, musical drum and bass, developing a roster and an aesthetic rather than simply putting out records. It has given the deeper end of the genre a genuine centre of gravity. His own releases, including the album A Little While Longer, continue to work with vocalists such as Riya and DRS, pushing further toward songwriting while keeping the drums rolling. Lenzman is both a defining producer and one of the genre's most important curators.
