Majistrate
Genres: Jungle, Jump-Up, Drum & Bass
Ian Jordan, born in Kent and now based in London, has been DJing as Majistrate since 1989 and producing since 1994, when Open Circuit came out on Splash Recordings. More than ten Splash records followed, along with work for its sister label Juice, his own East Side imprint and classic jungle outlets such as Lucky Spin and Brain. Through the mid 1990s he held a weekly show on the pirate station Kool FM and played the big raves of the era, including Innovation, 1Nation and Breakin Science. A 2002 reunion with old friend DJ Nicol produced a run of Majistrate and Nicol releases on Direct Recordings, and his catalogue has since spread across Frequency, Valve, Playaz and Ganja. Low Down Deep is now his main home, with recent singles including a 2026 update of Step Up, Everywhere I Go with Logan D and Weejii, and a Majistrate and Logan D remix of Giant Killa Bees. His sound sits at the rowdy, bass heavy end of the spectrum while keeping one foot in old school jungle.
Majistrate has 6 upcoming drum & bass event(s) listed on DNBRAVE.
