MC Spyda
Genres: Jungle, Drum & Bass
Nottingham's Colin Griffith, credited as Spyda or $pyda, brings a dancehall-rooted delivery to jungle and drum and bass. His roots are in UK sound system culture, and the vocal most people know is his turn on Pendulum's Tarantula. He is one third of BassLayerz with DJ and producer Slipz and fellow MC Blu Bomma, a Nottingham crew whose events earned them Best Breakthrough Promoters at the National Drum & Bass Awards in 2017. His own catalogue runs to dozens of releases on labels such as Born On Road, DnB Allstars, Monstercat and Souped Up, plus the 2024 album Hardworker, and his list of collaborators stretches from DJ Fresh, Benny Page and General Levy to Micky Finn, Serum and Teddy Killerz, whose Hardcore Riddim carries his voice. That spread is what he brings to a booking: he can host a jungle session from the mic or step up as a live act with a sound system behind him.
MC Spyda has 4 upcoming drum & bass event(s) listed on DNBRAVE.
