Martin Schober is the Austrian producer who took neurofunk somewhere new. His debut album Emulation announced a sound built on impossibly detailed bass design and rhythmic complexity, and Manifest, released through Critical Music, refined it into something colder, stranger and more precise. His production works at a level of technical detail that few others attempt, with basslines that seem to shift and mutate through a bar rather than simply repeat. Collaborations with Camo & Krooked and with Noisia have produced some of the most respected records in the technical end of the genre. He has released across Critical, Vision and Eatbrain, and his sets are relentless in a way that rewards a serious sound system. Mefjus is among the small group of producers genuinely pushing the technical ceiling of drum and bass.
