Metrik has spent over a decade as one of Hospital Records' most distinctive voices, building a sound that owes as much to synthwave and science fiction soundtracks as it does to drum and bass tradition. Universal Language in 2014 announced a producer with a fully formed aesthetic, all neon synth lines and widescreen arrangements over relentlessly clean drums. Ex Machina and Life/Thrills expanded the concept, and his work has found its way into games, film trailers and advertising, where the cinematic quality of his production translates naturally. Tracks like "Freefall" and his collaborations with vocalists including Elisabeth Troy have become mainstays of the Hospital catalogue. As a DJ he is known for high energy sets that move between liquid and the harder end of the label's output without losing momentum. Metrik is one of the artists who proved drum and bass could be melodic and euphoric without ever sounding soft.
