Napes
Genres: Jungle, Minimal, Drum & Bass
Napes is a London producer and DJ who sharpened his sound while studying in Bristol, and a Grade 8 drummer, which shows in how his breaks are cut up and rearranged. His tracks pull grime, jungle and minimal drum and bass together over distorted 808s, and he credits the Kemistry & Storm DJ-Kicks mix as a formative influence. Records have landed on Born On Road with the Chopper Gunner EP, on Alix Perez's 1985 Music, and on SUNANDBASS, where Hit The Corner took four years to finish. In the mix he wanders beyond 174 into footwork, garage and 140, so his sets rarely stay on one tempo for long.
Napes has 4 upcoming drum & bass event(s) listed on DNBRAVE.
