Boris Daenen took his name from a computer worm and became the Belgian producer who defined liquid drum and bass for the streaming era. Signed to Hospital Records, his self titled 2010 debut and its 2012 follow up 2 combined soaring strings, warm bass and unashamedly emotional melodies at a moment when the genre was mostly heading in a harder direction. His Netsky Live show, built around a full band, turned him into a main stage festival act across Europe, and he became one of the biggest electronic exports Belgium has produced. Later albums 3 and Second Nature widened the palette considerably, taking in house, pop and hip hop while keeping drum and bass as the spine. Netsky's real achievement is accessibility. He wrote drum and bass that people who had never heard drum and bass could fall in love with immediately, and a generation of liquid producers have been working in the space he opened up ever since.
