Nik Roos, Martijn van Sonderen and Thijs de Vlieger formed Noisia in Groningen and spent two decades as the most technically formidable production team in electronic music. Their sound design was so far ahead of the field that for years other producers treated a new Noisia release as a study document. Albums Split the Atom, Outer Edges and Closer traced an act that refused to repeat itself, moving from neurofunk into genuinely strange, uncategorisable territory while never losing the physical impact. Their labels Vision, Division and Invisible carved out separate spaces for the different sides of their output, and their work extended into game soundtracks and commercial sound design. The trio played their final shows after announcing the end of the project, closing one of the most influential runs the genre has seen. Noisia's fingerprints are on essentially every technical drum and bass record made since 2005.
