Pendulum
Genres: Drum & Bass
Formed in Perth in 2002 by Rob Swire, Gareth McGrillen and Paul Harding, Pendulum relocated to the UK and proceeded to detonate every assumption about what drum and bass could sound like. Hold Your Colour, released in 2005, remains the best selling drum and bass album ever made, a record whose sheer sonic force pulled in listeners who had never gone near a rave. In Silico in 2008 and Immersion in 2010 took the project fully into rock territory, with a live band lineup that headlined festivals worldwide and an album that went to number one in the UK. The move divided purists but expanded the audience enormously, and tracks like "Propane Nightmares", "Watercolour" and "The Island" became festival staples far beyond the genre. The band went on hiatus in 2012 while Swire and McGrillen pursued Knife Party, returning first as a DJ set and then, from 2017, as the full live show once more. New material has followed in the 2020s, and Pendulum remain one of the few names that can headline a rock festival and a drum and bass arena in the same summer.
Pendulum has 0 upcoming drum & bass event(s) listed on DNBRAVE.
