Florian Harres is one of the most respected producers working in technical drum and bass, a German artist whose records are studies in controlled aggression. His production strips away anything decorative, leaving drums that hit like industrial machinery and bass designed with an engineer's obsessiveness. Alongside Misanthrop he co-founded Neosignal, a label that became one of the key homes for the darker, more experimental strand of the genre and gave a platform to a generation of producers working in that space. He has also released widely through Critical and other leading technical imprints. His albums and EPs have consistently pushed the sound forward rather than consolidating it, and his DJ sets are built for the heaviest rooms. Phace is a producer whose name on a record is a reliable indication of quality.
