André Williams released "Original Nuttah" with UK Apache in 1994, and more than thirty years later it remains one of the most explosive records jungle ever produced. He was barely out of his teens when he made it, having already debuted with "Jungle Love" two years earlier, and it detonated across pirate radio and raves nationwide. His career since has refused to sit still. "Shake Ur Body" with T Power took him into the UK top ten in 2001, and in 2005 the pair founded Digital Soundboy Recording Co., a label that launched a generation of artists and released music that consistently ignored genre boundaries. His later work has drawn on reggae, dancehall and soul as much as on drum and bass. In 2019 he revisited his own history with "Original Nuttah 25", a reworking featuring UK Apache alongside Stormzy that connected the record to a new generation. Shy FX is one of the very few artists who was there at the beginning and is still genuinely central to the scene now.
