Skantia is Charlie Roberts, a drum and bass producer from Newcastle whose sound he calls maximal minimal, folding jump-up energy, rolling bass and techy detail into the same track. A demo reached the RAM Records team, Andy C among them, and he signed exclusively to the label around 2019. His debut album Common Ground followed on RAM in May 2022, alongside singles such as Cluster, Power Line and Jubilant, and Yoyo Bop sat at the top of the Beatport drum and bass chart for more than two weeks in 2024. He has also released Foreshadow / Third Kit on Critical Music and played a Mixmag Lab set. In the booth he keeps things stripped back but heavy.
