Most of the capital's clubbing is packed into the Old Town, and its drum and bass mostly happens below street level. The Liquid Room occupies a deep vault on Victoria Street; open since 1997 and holding around 800, it was shut for a year and a half by the 2008 Victoria Street fire and reopened in 2010. Promoters such as Nightvision and Khaotic run D&B nights there between gigs. Down on the Cowgate, the Bongo Club has been run by the arts charity Out of the Blue since 1996 and is home to Disorder, the jungle and drum and bass night Harry Jackson launched in 2022, which has booked Randall, Grooverider, Doc Scott and Bladerunner. Jungle Magik and Tektite use the same room. The roots go back further: Xplicit was promoting drum and bass in the city from 2005 and gave Pendulum some of their early Scottish dates, at a time when the genre was stronger on the east coast than the west. Both venues are an easy walk from Waverley station, which helps if you are heading back to Fife or Glasgow.
