Drum & Bass Events in Leeds

25 upcoming drum and bass events and raves in Leeds.

Leeds came to bass music through sound systems. Chapeltown's dub scene grew up in the 1980s around crews like Iration Steppas, who played the West Indian Centre on their own rigs and in 1998 became resident sound at SubDub, the night still known for dub, jungle, drum and bass and dubstep across several rooms. Back to Basics, which began in 1991, and the mixed night Vague were each named the best club in Britain at points in that decade, and Tribe Records in the Corn Exchange sold jungle and drum and bass from 1995. Sigma's Cameron Edwards and Joe Lenzie met at drum and bass nights while students at the University of Leeds, years before Nobody to Love went to number one. The Warehouse on Somers Street, a club since 1979 and older than the Hacienda, keeps its drum and bass, jungle and garage upstairs in The Loft, including a regular Tuesday night. Beaver Works in Hunslet is the big warehouse option, opening up to four rooms on major nights, and the O2 Academy on Cookridge Street takes touring shows, with cashless bars and cloakroom.
