Drum & Bass Events in London

50 upcoming drum and bass events and raves in London.

Jungle was born on London's pirate airwaves. Kool FM first broadcast from Clapton in November 1991 and spent years transmitting from Hackney tower block roofs, while the Ragga Twins, out of Hackney's Unity sound system, cut some of the earliest ragga jungle records for Shut Up & Dance. Goldie's Metalheadz started its Sunday Sessions at the Blue Note in Hoxton Square in 1995, and fabric opened in Farringdon in 1999 with FabricLive Fridays given mostly to drum and bass. The records came from Blackmarket on D'Arblay Street in Soho, where Nicky Blackmarket set up the breakbeat department. That generation still fills the calendar: Ragga Twins, Congo Natty, Ray Keith and MCs such as GQ, Shabba D and Det are among the most booked names here. The rooms are spread wide, from Egg near King's Cross with its 24 hour weekend licence and the Steel Yard in the arches under Cannon Street to Basing House in Shoreditch, E1 in Wapping, Phonox in Brixton and The Cause in Silvertown.
