Before it had a dedicated club night, Manchester had a radio show: Marcus Intalex and Marc XTC hosted Da Intalex on Kiss 102 from 1993. In 1996 Intalex and DJ Jamac launched Guidance at Sankeys Soap, bringing Grooverider, Fabio, Doc Scott, LTJ Bukem and the Metalheadz crew north, and in 2001 he founded Soul:r, the label behind records by Calibre, Klute and dBridge that helped define the deeper, liquid end of the genre. Chase & Status formed here in 2003 while studying at the city's universities, and Bou, who moved to Manchester as a child, is now one of the most in-demand headliners anywhere. The longest standing local name is Hit & Run, Rich Reason's bass night, running in the city since 2006 and regularly hosted at Hidden on Mary Street. The Warehouse Project season fills Depot Mayfield, Gorilla sits under the railway arches on Whitworth Street West, Joshua Brooks keeps a compact basement club on Princess Street, and Victoria Warehouse takes the larger touring bills.
