Drum & Bass Events in Newcastle Upon Tyne

15 upcoming drum and bass events and raves in Newcastle Upon Tyne.

Tyneside's drum and bass story usually starts with Turbulence, the night co-run by James Phobia that anchored the city's scene for fifteen years from 1998 to 2013. A fresh generation of local producers, Skantia, Nectax and Hexa among them, has come through since, and Rantik and Jak run Northern Line Recordings from the city. The club carrying the sound now is World Headquarters on Carliol Square, an independent space open since 1993 with a Void system on each of its two floors, where Motion Sickness, Dilate and Lively Up are regular promoters and the community is known for being close knit. Digital at Times Square opened in 2005 with one of the UK's early Funktion-One installations; it is better known for house and techno but takes big rave revival shows such as Big Fat Rave. One thing to be aware of: Jungle Thursdays at Tup Tup Palace is a decor theme for a commercial student night, not a jungle night. World Headquarters is a few minutes' walk from the Manors and Monument Metro stops.
