Akhnaton Amsterdam
Nieuwezijds Kolk 25, 1012 PV Amsterdam, Netherlands, Amsterdam
Akhnaton started life in 1953 as a Catholic students' society named after the pharaoh Akhenaten, and has occupied its buildings on the Nieuwezijds Kolk, a few minutes' walk from Amsterdam Centraal, since 1971. By day it runs as a café with a terrace and serves food; at night the hall holds roughly 200 to 300 and has a long record of championing music from far afield, from salsa and reggae to punk and hip hop. It hosted the first Wicked Jazz Sounds party in 2002, and British bass crews visiting the city have adopted it: it has provided the Sunday afterparty for the Jungle Weekender and hosted a Dirty Stereo weekender night, and Rolling Deep now brings its Amsterdam weekender here. Think intimate club room rather than warehouse.
Akhnaton Amsterdam has 1 upcoming drum & bass event(s) on DNBRAVE.
