Before the Motion team took it on, the building on Pennywell Road in St Judes was a 1990s document storage facility, hence the name. It opened as a venue at the start of 2022 and shares the site with artist studios, co-working desks and a gym. The headline space is FACILITY, a skylit industrial hall with a 6m by 12m stage holding roughly 3,000, backed by RECORD, a mid-sized room for about 200, GALLERY in the old server room, and the YARD courtyard outside. There is no fixed house rig; promoters bring in their own production, so accounts of the sound swing night to night. Bass music fills a good share of the calendar: Worried About Henry has sold it out, SuperMotive runs 16+ raves here, and the bigger D&B and bassline all-dayers stack dozens of acts across the rooms. Most reviewers agree there is space to dance even at capacity and that several bars keep queues short. It runs hot, toilets are often portaloos in the yard, and Lawrence Hill is the closest rail stop.
