Exeter Phoniex
Bradninch Place, Exeter, EX4 3LS
Exeter Phoenix is the city's arts centre, in a 1911 building off Gandy Street that was built for the University College of the South West and later housed the university's law school. A lottery-funded refit in 1999 gave it galleries, studios, a cafe-bar and a main auditorium taking around 450 standing, with raised seating at the back that gig-goers rate for its view of the stage. Film, theatre and live bands fill most of the calendar, so club nights are occasional rather than weekly. Underground Showground brings the bass, staging sound system nights such as its Halloween bill with Bristol's Mandidextrous, whose sets move between jungle, drum and bass, speed bass and tekno, alongside Phibes. Exeter Central station is a few minutes' walk away, and visitors find the bar reasonably priced for the city centre.
Exeter Phoniex has 1 upcoming drum & bass event(s) on DNBRAVE.
