Fabric London
77A Charterhouse St, London, EC1M6HJ
Room One's floor is the detail people remember: around 400 bass transducers sit underneath it, so the low end arrives through your feet as well as the stacks. fabric opened in October 1999 inside the old Metropolitan Cold Stores on Charterhouse Street, facing Smithfield meat market and a short walk from Farringdon station. Three rooms hold about 1,600 between them, each with its own system. Fridays belong to FABRICLIVE, the bass night that has carried drum and bass from the start next to grime, dubstep and breaks, and it regularly hands the building over to labels such as Critical, Hospital and V Recordings' Planet V. Saturdays lean towards house and techno. Islington Council revoked the licence in 2016; a crowdfunded fight got it reopened in 2017 under tighter conditions that still shape the door, so expect several ID checks, scanning and searches. Reviewers rate the staff and the sound, but warn that Room One packs out and that drinks cost more than most London clubs. Big label nights can sell out well ahead.
Fabric London has 2 upcoming drum & bass event(s) on DNBRAVE.
