Gorilla took over the brick railway arches beneath Oxford Road station on Whitworth Street West in 2012, turning the old Green Room theatre space, home to the arts centre from 1987 until 2011, into a gig and club room. That room holds up to about 600 standing and fills fast, while the glass fronted main arch runs as a two storey bar and kitchen with a Gin Parlour mezzanine above. By night it books touring bands, comedy and club nights, and drum and bass is a regular presence through Brainiac, which mixes jungle, D&B and dubstep, and the 360 degree Bass Face nights. Club nights run roughly 11pm to 4am and carry a dress code that rules out tracksuits, sportswear, caps and football tops. There is no box office, so buy online, since any spare tickets on the door cost more. The club entrance is under the tunnel, separate from the bar frontage.
