Move sits in a basement at 4 The Quay on Exeter's historic quayside, a site that has been a club since 1980, when it traded as Boxes. The main floor holds roughly 200 people in front of a bespoke Funktion-One system tuned by Funktion-One themselves, with a heavy laser and lighting rig that gives the room an old school underground feel, and several reviewers name the sound and the lasers as the reason they come. Bomba and its two outdoor terraces sit directly above via an internal staircase, a second Funktion-One room that joins up with Move on full day parties. The programme runs from trance and techno to hip hop, but Long Dark Tunnel is the resident jungle and drum and bass promoter, and headline bookings fill the small room quickly, so advance tickets are sensible. The toilets are the one thing reviewers consistently grumble about.
