Sheffield's bassline story runs through Network, the independent club on Matilda Street that took over the old Plug building and reopened around 2019 with a full Martin Audio installation by Old Barn Audio. Three rooms add up to roughly 1,650: a main hall of about 1,000, a second room near 500 and a back room for around 150. Basstime brings the city's homegrown bassline sound here with local selectors such as DdotStreet, and the venue was chosen to host the return of Niche, the Sidney Street club that defined the genre. Outside the bass nights the diary mixes touring bands, tribute shows and trance reunions. Door queues move quickly, cans at the bar are fairly priced for the city centre, and the railway station is roughly ten minutes away on foot.
