Suburbia occupies 27 to 29 Onslow Road, a building with a long music history: as the Onslow it was Southampton's main blues pub, it became Lennons nightclub around 1990, and after closing in 2016 it reopened as Suburbia in April 2017, with a refurbishment in 2024. It is one dark, low ceilinged room for around 250, licensed until 3am, and deliberately multi genre, mixing indie and punk gigs with techno, student society nights and the monthly SEMSU Sessions from the Southampton Electronic Music Society. Drum and bass arrives through promoters such as WAVZ Audio and CodeName Amen, whose Pure Jungle nights bring heritage names like Bladerunner. Structural pillars break up the floor, so pick your spot early, and reviewers regularly praise the door, bar and tech staff.
