Fran Melia and Will Maull run The Bag Factory, a tiny independent room on Dickinson Street in Salford, next door to The White Hotel, with a licence to 4am at weekends. When that licence was granted the space was put at around 60 people, and the conditions included decibel testing and a limiter on the low end, yet the system still hits hard enough that the bar keeps earplugs in stock. Drum and bass, jungle and breaks fill much of the calendar: Rollout Records with Beet Roots Soundsystem, Digitise and its lasers and raffle parties, Backchat, Fusion, and Neurosystem open decks. Regulars point to fair drink prices, a decent smoking area out front and a friendly crew behind the bar. Afternoon and Sunday sessions run alongside the late shows, so read the start time on the ticket before setting off.
