The Liquid Room

Rebuilt after the 2008 Victoria Street fire, the Liquid Room reopened in 2010 with Avolites lighting control and a d&b audiotechnik sound system, and the interior has been refurbished again more recently. It sits on the steep, curving street that drops from George IV Bridge to the Grassmarket, so the Old Town's late bars are close at hand before and after. Gigs by touring bands and tribute acts fill much of the calendar, and the club nights come from promoters including BRA Events, whose harder dance parties have booked PØNTIN, and Obscura on the techno side. Drum and bass turns up less often than it once did, but Hospitality and Nightvision have both run D&B nights in the room. Reviewers agree that the floor gets packed on big nights and that the bar is pricey, and entry to club nights is 18+ with passport or driving licence only.
