The warehouse at 110 Pennington Street, on the Wapping side of Shadwell, was known as Studio Spaces before it relaunched as E1. Time Out puts the main room at around 1,600 people, and the promoter's own listings point to a Funktion-One rig, which explains why so many visitors single out the sound and the light show. Drum and bass has a firm foothold here: Breakin Science bring their end of year London party to the building, the DeVice nights have booked René LaVice, goddard. and Mollie Collins, and Flexout Audio picked it for the label's fifteenth birthday. Shadwell, on the Overground and DLR, is the nearest station, but the site sits on a quiet stretch, so work out the journey home before heading out. Tickets are often sold in timed entry tiers that the door enforces, and the queue can be slow on busy nights, so arrive well ahead of the cut-off printed on yours.
