The Yard's outdoor space in Cheetham Hill is fully covered rather than open to the sky, which is what makes a late September day rave there workable. Mukes Carnival is the biggest outing yet for the Manchester bass crew, who have grown out of pub back rooms into a DIY operation of handmade decoration and custom staging, with the rig supplied by Rochdale's Dankashire Sound System. Their programming spreads across drum and bass, jungle, garage and dubstep rather than holding one lane all afternoon. Music runs from 4pm to 11pm and the door shuts at 7pm, so arriving late is not an option. Tickets start at £7 and it is 18+.
