Residents plus very special guests, still unnamed, carry XXL DNB into The Steel Yard on Friday 13 November, with a policy that strays beyond drum and bass into 140, bass, grime and breaks. The club is a run of Victorian arches tucked under the railway lines on Allhallows Lane, a couple of minutes from the river, with room for up to 1,000 standing across the spaces. What is left of the allocation costs nothing to claim. Admission runs from 11pm until a 3am cutoff. Reviewers agree the arches get hot and the bass is heavy, and big nights mean queues at the door and bar, so wear something light and turn up early; Mansion House and Cannon Street are the nearest stations in the City of London.
